How Did You Get Started?

I dabbled in weight training while playing football in high school, but did not develop an interest until college. It wasn't until my final year of medical school (February, 1995) that I adopted the Iron game lifestyle, which included a proper diet, intelligent training, and appropriate aerobic activity. Since that time, bodybuilding has been an integral component of my life. No matter how tired I am from the hospital, I will train. No matter what else is going on in my life, I will train.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Currently two on, one off, two on, two off. Resistance training is done 4 days per week and aerobic training (step aerobics, hi/lo aerobics, kickboxing, spinning) 2 or 3 days per week. Some weeks, I'll take one day off, other weeks I won't. Each bodypart is trained only once per week.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Along with very strict eating habits (two cheat days per YEAR: my birthday and Thanksgiving), I have achieved good results using a quality meal replacement powder, 20-30 gms of glutamine per day, flaxseed oil, and extra vitamins E and C. I have never used prohormones.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love the iron game primarily because of the constant challenge it presents to me. It's me against myself. I cannot blame my defeats on anyone and no one but me (and my parents and God) can stake claims to my victories. I also enjoy the influence that having a healthy appearing body has on others. I enjoy helping others be all they can be in health. Bodybuilding is satisfying physically and mentally.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I have never competed before and that remains a long-term goal. In the short-term, I want to continue improving my weak areas and increase my weight to 215 lbs while remaining under 9% bodyfat.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

If there were two words to describe my journey in bodybuilding, they would be CONSISTENCY and PERSERVERENCE. When it's a training day, you train. If you're off, you're off. Also, train intelligently.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

It was Ronnie Coleman while he worked full-time as a police officer and still won two consecutive Mr. Olympia titles. I have no favorite now.
