Why I Decided To Transform

I have always been a little overweight. After having twin boys and being over 35 years old, I found it harder to lose the extra weight. I didn't just want to lose the weight. I wanted that hard body. I wanted to look good enough to do a figure show.

I knew it would take support from my family, and a lot of dedication. With the help and support of my husband, I would be able to do this.

We both researched on Bodybuilding.com and came up with the diet that would work best for me. This was a low carb diet. The workouts were my favorite. The diet was hard at first, because I was used to taking diet pills to curb my hunger. This time I had to do it without the diet pills and follow the diet plan.

As the weight came off, I became more confident that I could do this. I packed meals whenever I knew I would be gone from home more than three hours. I even took my own food to restaurants when the family wanted to eat out, which was once a week.

I was not going to give in. I kept to my diet and made my goal weight. I did a figure show in May, and I am now on a carb cycling diet to gain more muscle. I want to compete again in November.

This transformation has given me confidence and has also helped my husband to keep working out.

How I Accomplished My Goals

I kept positive and made sure to get to the gym. I never wanted to quit, but sometimes I didn't want to go the gym. I forced myself and went.

My inspiration came from a friend. She had done a figure show and I was amazed how she transformed herself. She said "If I can do it, then you certainly can too."

What Aspect Challenged Me The Most

The diet challenged me the most. Some days I felt like splurging. I had coffee to help with that. Of course, my husband kept me on track. He would always ask how I did with my meals.

The last four weeks before my show, I had to up my cardio to two hours a day, five days a week. I did one hour in the morning, and one hour in the evening. The hardest part was getting to the gym; once I was there I was ok.

Because of my low carb diet, my heart rate was kept around 120-125.

My Future Fitness Plans

I am training for another show. I'm hoping to get my pro card next year.

Suggestions For Aspiring Transformers

I'm sure everybody has heard this, but seriously, "If I can do it, so can you!" I'm a mother and a wife with three kids: a 15-year-old, and two-year-old twin boys. I work from home. My schedule is full, but I make time for the gym, and so can you.
