The fight is on! The 2010 Europa Battle of Champions is this weekend, and I was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with Ben White who'll be competing. Ben won his pro title at the PBW Tampa Pro and surprised much of the competition with his ripped and rocking physique. Now Ben is looking to annihilate the competition at the 2010 Europa, and he shares some of his pre-contest thoughts with his fans here at Bodybuilding.com!

[ Brian Bullman ] Hey Ben, first off congratulations on winning your first IFBB Pro title, The PBW Tampa Pro. Tell me how are you feeling right now, and what's it like to become one of those elite few who possess a pro title?

[ Ben White ] Hey Brian, thank you. I really didn't have time to digest the fact that I have moved up that level just yet, I haven't even had to the chance to celebrate the victory properly. But after this weekend in Hartford, I will most definitely be doing some celebrating. That being said, I feel very fortunate to now be one of those elite IFBB Pro title holders. I have always wanted to compete on an IFBB Pro stage, following in the steps of iconic athletes like Arnold is an honor.

[ BB ] I understand you are staying on your diet and competing in Hartford this weekend, how are you feeling this close to the show?

[ BW ] Actually Brian I feel great considering I've been on the keto diet for some time. I'm tired of course and at times I may even slur my words, but overall I'm feeling good. The win has added fuel to the fire, after all, only the strong survive. I am definitely getting way more phone calls now that I have won a pro title. Nobody expected me to win. I want this win in Hartford bad.

[ BB ] You placed 5th at the Tampa Pro last year, how did that make you feel coming within reaching distance of an Olympia qualification?

[ BW ] Last year was an eye opener for me, even though I placed 5th I realized just how much work I had to do to be truly competitive with the IFBB's finest. I spoke with some judges, and people I trust and found out just what was needed from me to win. So that's what I did, I went back to the drawing board, added some 20lbs of quality muscle and it paid off with a win in Tampa.

[ BB ] Now that you have qualified for the Olympia in the most flamboyant way possible, will we see on stage in Vegas?

[ BW ] Yes! I will definitely be in Vegas on stage at the Olympia, at least to see where I am at. But after that, I plan to take the year off and make further improvements so that I can aim for an even better performance next year.

[ BB ] It's every bodybuilders dream to make it to that Olympia stage, what will it mean to you to do just that, and also to be going in with a win under your belt?

[ BW ] Just to qualify is a dream come true for me. I mean this is the Olympia; this is where legends are made in this great sport. It's also very reassuring to know that all my hard work is finally paying off.

[ BB ] As a judge I have to admit that you have some serious thick and shredded muscle, however, going to the Olympia everything else is taken into account, mass, conditioning, and posing - what are you going to work on most between now and then?

[ BW ] Thank you. I will definitely be giving my posing a lot of attention. I have put a lot of effort into adding the mass and getting the conditioning I was told I needed. So between now and the Olympia I will be taking some classes to help with my posing and of course I want to do some serious stretching so that I can display my physique to the max.

[ BB ] With a few more Pro shows to go before the Olympia, will we see you onstage again in any more contests between The Europa in Harford and the big O?

[ BW ] Nobody is going to be seeing me onstage between now and the Olympia, I am going to take 8 weeks to let my body rebound and make the improvements I need for the Olympia. In Tampa I was about 90%, in Hartford I'm probably going to be about 95%, and come the Olympia, I am going to be 100%.

[ BB ] Competing as a pro can be a challenge, as we all know we are far from the pay scale of the NFL or NBA, tell us more about how your personal training business and how you balance the lifestyle?

[ BW ] I am lucky because I have a good clientele base, and this allows me to train when I need to. But now that I have a win under my belt I should be able to pick up some better sponsorship deals which of course will help in the long run. You are always more valuable when you have a win under your belt.

[ BB ] Being a sponsored athlete is a great advantage for an athlete when trying to get ready to compete; do you have a company backing you at the moment?

[ BW ] Right now I am sponsored by Nutrabolics, a Canada based company with some great supplements. Also GASP clothing has been great in supplying me with workout clothing.

[ BB ] What about supplements? What do you use to get that full and shredded look that won you your first IFBB Pro title?

[ BW ] I used IsoBolic Protein (first thing in the morning and post workout), GlutaBolic (Pre & Post Workout), AminoCell (Pre and Post Workout) and Hemodrene (first thing in the morning and pre workout) to come in full and shredded for the Tampa Pro.

[ BB ] Protein, Creatine and NO products are called supplements for a reason, because without solid nutrition to work with them we are pretty much spitting into the wind. Can you give us an insight into Ben White's nutritional plan?

[ BW ] Basically Brian I ate fats, proteins and zero carbs. I ate a lot of almonds, walnuts, cashews and olive oil for the fats, and fish, steak, chicken and eggs for the protein. I actually don't know exactly how many calories or grams of fat and protein I was taking in per day. I just went off of what Dave Palumbo told me to eat.

[ BB ] So, we both know that no matter what nutrition plan or supplements we use, they are useless without a solid training program to back it all up. Can you give us an insight into what it takes in the gym to be Ben White?

[ BW ] Powerlifting. I went back to the old school compound lifts like deadlifts, rows, bench press, all heavy exercises. As soon as I dropped cables from my workout, the size just kept coming. And my body weight went up.

[ BB ] Are you going to make any changes for the Battle of Champions, from the prep you used in Tampa, and if so what will you do different?

[ BW ] When I left home for Tampa I weighed 255lbs, now as I am getting ready to leave for Hartford, I'm weighing 248lbs. So I am a lot sharper and a whole lot fuller. I didn't change too much, because if it ain't broke don't fix it!

[ BB ] That's all for now Ben, thanks for taking the time out this close to the show to talk to us. Congratulations on your victory and best of luck this weekend from all here at Bodybuilding.com.

[ BW ] Thanks Brian, and I also want to thank all the fans, the judges the IFBB for giving us this great opportunity to compete as professionals. I also want to thank Nutrabolics for their support. Expect a lot more from Team White! We are going to make a serious impact at the Olympia this year!
