There are several factors involved in the decline of one's physical health and well being and my story is no different. For the past few years I had fallen victim to the perils of life to include: the unexpected loss of my father, getting a divorce and more recently being diagnosed with Epilepsy. Needless to say this had caused me to not only lose my physical health, but my sense of self. Remaining was a timid, self conscious person who was afraid of what he had allowed himself to become.
I have always been interested in working out and staying in shape, however, since falling victim to circumstance I was unable to find the motivation to work out. While on the internet one day, I came across Bodybuilding.com and began to look around. After connecting to some great resources, I was able to find that motivation to get back into the gym to do something that had previously seemed impossible. Being able to access information on training and nutrition via the internet, I was able to form a workout and diet that was vital to me being able to achieve my goals.
As I began my transformation I had more tragedy strike as I was admitted to the hospital at the beginning of April 2008, due to having multiple seizures. At that point I became discouraged because I was not sure what the future would bring or if I would be able to continue with my training. After several visits to the doctor and several medication trials, I made the decision to continue my journey and was determined to not let anything stand in the way of what I wanted to achieve. Lord willing I was able to remain both motivated and seizure free throughout my transformation and those goals became reality.
Since going through my transformation, not only have I gained a great deal of confidence, but have also regained my happiness and zest for life. This transformation has brought about so many changes and I am finally able to enjoy life instead of merely existing in it. As a result of the success that I have had, I am currently studying to become a personal trainer, in hopes of helping others to achieve their goals.
My transformation took place over the course of about 3 months beginning on 3/28/2008 and was complete on 7/4/2008. I had a total weight loss of 40 lbs and was able to cut my body fat by 10%.
I generally try to take in about 5-6 meals a day in order to keep my body properly fueled. I usually keep most of my carb intake around my workouts, although I am currently experimenting with carb cycling, which has given me some great results.

In an attempt to keep my body from becoming used to my workouts, I use a combination of both circuit training and straight sets. I also keep cardio a constant year round, performing various types between 4-5 times a week.
The biggest piece of advice that I would give others who are looking to transform themselves would be to be true to yourself and follow your heart.
Don't let anyone or anything in your life stand in the way of something that you truly want. The journey is not an easy one, but take it from me once you make it all the work is well worth it. ![]()
