MMA-Mixed Martial Arts: 2011 MMA Awards
2011 MMA Awards
Devised to celebrate success and achievement within the MMA industry, the World Mixed Martial Arts Awards gives fans across the globe the opportunity to cast their vote on which athletes, brands and industry professionals have made the greatest impact on the sport in the last 12 months. Voting will commence on September 1, 2011, across 22 different award categories including: Fighter of the Year, Knockout of the Year and Best Lifestyle Apparel. An additional 'Lifetime Achievement' award will also be presented during the live ceremony to an unsuspecting recipient.
"The last 12 months have flown by but not without producing some of the most exciting moments ever witnessed within the sport of MMA," said Rob Hewitt, President and CEO of Fighters Only. "This year's award categories will be more hotly contested than ever and as always we rely on the fans to cast their vote on who should emerge as the winners. Since last year's event we have injected two new awards, which came out on top from a selection suggested directly to us via reader feedback. In addition, the nomination process this year was composed via an expert panel formed by all of Fighters Only's international editors along with a selection of guest panelists. The support the awards facility has received over the last three years has been phenomenal and we expect this year's show to be even more popular with increased fan participation."
The incredible success of the 2010 event saw a relative who's who of MMA take to the red carpet. And the Fighters Only World MMA Awards is all set to return even bigger and better this year with a live ceremony to be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in the exclusive Pearl Concert Theatre inside the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. This black-tie event will be sponsored by Bodybuilding.com, the Internet's most-visited health and fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements.
"It means a lot to be able to help recognize the best in MMA. This sport has some of the top physically trained athletes out there. Anyone who selflessly dedicates their life to a sport they love deserves an event like this," said Bodybuilding.com CEO Ryan DeLuca.
The website www.worldmmaawards.com is now open and ready to take votes, but in addition, fans are able to download a free iPhone application, which makes voting even easier and ensures we attract the maximum global response and the most accurate selection of winners.
