2010 Europa Show Of Champions Review
Ed and Betty Pariso have done it again. One of bodybuilding's power couples has created another great show. No fewer than 70 of the IFBB's finest graced the stage and battled it out cash prizes and the honor of being invited to the Olympia weekend in Las Vegas this coming September.
The weekend was an action packed spectacle of all that is fitness; there was MMA, strongman, fit mom search, cover model contest, martial arts, powerlifting and NPC amateur contest to name but a few of the events included on the weekend's schedule of events. These events along with one of Florida's biggest fitness expos, gave the fans a taste of what it is like to witness the spectacles that are the Arnold and Olympia weekends.
But that's enough of that. We are bodybuilders and all we really care about is the bodybuilding. All the rest is just icing on the cake, something to fill the void between prejudging and finals.

Some Of IFBB's Finest Graced The Stage And Battled It Out For Prizes And An Olympia Invite.
 202 Division
The men's 202 division had a small lineup with regards to the number of athletes. Only 9 competitors made the trip out to Orlando, where there was $6,000 up for grabs and 3 spots for the 2010 Olympia 202 Showdown.
 5th Place: Michael Valentino
Michael Valentino presented a very symmetrical physique reminiscent of the classic physiques of the 80's. However, he will need some more mass and better conditioning if he is to be competitive during the 2010, 202 grand prix season.
 4th Place: James Llewellin
James Llewellin was nowhere near the condition that won him the British Championships and his IFBB pro card, but his physique possessed enough mass and condition to earn him 4th place. Unfortunately, he narrowly missed out on an Olympia qualification. With a little more conditioning I am sure we will be seeing James in Las Vegas this year.
 3rd Place: Jose Raymond
Jose Raymond came into this show as big as a small house; his conditioning left something to be desired and is far from the level of refinement he displayed during his amateur days. His thickness and balance were too much for the judges to ignore and he is going home $1,000 richer and with an invite to the Olympia in his back pocket.
 2nd Place: Roc Shabazz
Roc Shabazz was not as sharp as his Phoenix victory, but he had enough to edge out the rest of the competition for the first runner up spot. His level of muscle maturity is years ahead of most of the field of competitors and will serve him well throughout the rest of the 2010 season.
 1st Place: Eduardo Correa
Eduardo Correa was the immediate winner. Some felt that Correa was the rightful winner of the 2009 Olympia Showdown, and the physique he presented in Orlando was evidence enough to convince any jury that he is top dog in the 202 division.
 Men's Open
The 2010 Europa Show of Champions open division, was missing a lot of the sport's heavy hitters, but two fan favorites showed up, sliced and diced ready to battle it out and go home with not only an invite to the Olympia but also their first ever pro victory. Both Hidetada Yamagishi and Marcus Hailey came to Olrando looking to make an impression on the judges and show those IFBB superstars who sat this contest out that they had better stay on their toes, there are some new guns in town. Forgive the cowboy analogy, I just watched John Wayne in Chisum.
 5th Place: Constantino Demetriou
Constantino Demetriou displayed a very classic physique, great symmetry and a decent level of mass. His conditioning needs improvement and some extra thickness to be truly competitive within the IFBB.
 4th Place: Mike Kefalianos
Mike Kefalianos was THICK, and in great condition. He narrowly missed out on an Olympia qualification here, his second close call in as many shows. I think with a little more refinement to his massive physique he can snag an Olympia qualification before the year is out. Watch this space!
 3rd Place: Evgeny Mishin
Evgeny Mishin finally makes it to the podium and earns himself a place on the ultimate bodybuilding stage that is the Olympia. He has been knocking on this door for many years and finally he has been answered.
 2nd Place: Marcus Haley
Marcus Haley stood onstage a bodybuilder reborn. He totally transformed his physique from previous contests and has been deservedly rewarded. His legs were better than ever, even after his patellar tendon injury which almost ended his career in bodybuilding. His condition was better than ever and he pushed the eventual winner to the limit.
 1st Place: Hidetada Yamagishi
Hidetada Yamagishi finally earns his first ever IFBB Professional title. In 2nd here last year, the Japanese warrior has really come into his own. He now has the silverware to top off a string of top 5 finishes. Congratulations to Hide who is now heading to the Olympia as an IFBB Champion.
 Conclusion
All in all it was another great weekend of bodybuilding and fitness. Many congratulations go out to Ed and Betty Pariso for promoting this great weekend of all that the iron game encompasses. History was made, Olympia invites were earned and new IFBB superstars were born. See you all in NYC for the New York Pro when we can do it all over again!
