Isaac Hinds Gives His 2009 Pro Fight Supplements Iron Man Preview.

The 20th Anniversary of the Pro Fight Supplements Iron Man Pro will kick off next week. The show is a little earlier than usual but it hasn't hurt the number of competitors entering the show. Currently, 22 IFBB Pro bodybuilders will take the stage on Saturday, January 24, 2009 in hopes of victory and an Olympia qualifying spot. The top five from this show will qualify for the Olympia, held later this year in Las Vegas. Along with the Iron Man pro will be the Pro Fight Supplement's Los Angeles Fitness Expo, present by Bodybuilding.com and Gaspari Nutrition. This is one event not to miss with all sorts of things taking place throughout the weekend.

"Sugar" Shawn Ray was the winner of the first Iron Man Pro. Who will win the 20th Anniversary title? There are a few guys who stand a chance at earning the top prize this year. Last year the winner was Phil Heath. He followed it up with a second place finish at the Arnold and third at the Olympia. The guys who win this show are no joke and go on to do great things.

Last year I managed to get one and two right but after that my predictions were all over the place. Let's see if I can start the year off a little better. Here are my top ten picks for the Iron Man Pro...

Top 10 Picks

1. Moe El Moussawi:

The 2008 Iron Man was Moe's breakout year. In the 2007 Iron Man he was 14th, last year he was 3rd. He finished the year with an Olympia top 10 finish. It will be a battle for the top spot and the win won't come easy. I am giving Moe the nod over Silvio because of his size.

I Am Giving Moe The Nod
Over Silvio Because Of His Size.

He'll be a good 15-20lbs bigger than Silvio and if he comes in with the condition he displayed last year I think he'll be the champ. If he slips in the conditioning department he'll play runner-up to Silvio. Moe looks to have improved his back from last year and from his preview pics a few days out, he looks to be on point.

2. Silvio Samuel:
dots

Silvio is the guy who competes more than anyone else but still comes in with some of the craziest conditioning you'll see on a bodybuilder. He ended the 2008 season with a seventh place finish at the Olympia. He was fourth at this contest last year. It sets up an interesting battle between him and Moe.

Moe beats him the Iron Man but Silvio beats him at the Arnold and Olympia. There is definitely a case for Silvio being the favorite in this contest. One thing is for certain, he'll be in shape. I've yet to see him compete and not be freaky shredded. His only downfall will be how much size he gives up. It hasn't prevented him from prevailing before, so we'll see if it is a factor in this contest.

3. Mark Dugdale:
dots

Mark was second in this contest in 2007. He didn't have the best showing in 2008 as he added some size but lacked the conditioning that lead to his success in the past. If he can get back to his remarkable conditioning he'll be in an Olympia qualifying spot. Like anyone, if his conditioning is off he'll be out of the top 5. I'm looking for Mark to be back in the mix by returning to what worked for him in the past.

4. Ahmad Haidar:
dots

Appropriately coined "Abzilla" by Lonnie Teper, Ahmad Haidar returns to the stage. He has a classic physique and while he's not the biggest guy on stage he can hold his own. The last time we saw him on this stage as in 2007 where he placed 7th. Look for him to redeem himself and make his way into the top five.

5. Marcus Haley:
dots

Marcus was 5th at this show in 2007 and he should find his way to the top five once again. Marcus is recovering from an injury but from the looks of his pre-contest photos it looks like it shouldn't be a factor. The only issue I have with Marcus is his posing. I hope he's taken the time away from the stage to work on his posing during the comparison rounds. He tends to let his stomach extend and in turn detracts from his physique. I see him doing well in this show and no matter where he places will have a moral victory for himself, returning after the injury.

6. Adorthus Cherry:

He made his pro debut last year at the Arnold Classic. He came into the show and placed last. No one wants to be THAT guy but hey he stepped on stage at the Arnold Classic and that's no small feat. He's taken some time off and will be making a return at this show. AD's strong point is his shape with a tiny waist and solid upper body. He lacks a little in the leg department and he'll need way better conditioning at this show then at the Arnold. He has the advantage of being in Cali and not having to travel. I look for him to be much better than the Arnold - where he lands is a crapshoot though.

7. Hidetada Yamagishi:
dots

He was seventh in this contest in 2007 and I see him in the 6-9 range at this year's contest. Hidetada had some setbacks off the stage last year and will be looking to redeem himself on stage at this show. He'll have is work cut out for him and we'll have to wait and see how the time away serves him.

8. Ronny Rockel:
dots

When he's on conditioning wise, he's a top ten Olympia contender. When he's off he doesn't make the top ten of any show. You never know which Ronny will show up and what his conditioning will be like. I like his physique and he has the potential to be in the top five. He could be in the mix or he could be on the outside of the top ten. Flip a coin to guess which Ronny will show up.

9. Evgeny Mishin:
dots

His placings are all over the place but I think he has the potential to be in the top ten. He has the size to do well and when his conditioning is on like it was at the 2007 Europa Super Show he'll be in the mix. He didn't fair well in 2008 but if he returns to the late '07 form he can be in the mix.

10. Eddie Abbew:
dots

He was 7th at this contest last year and was third at the 2007 event. Eddie Abbew could be in the mix for a top five spot but his legs usually hold him back from placing in the top five. He had his best year in 2007 and if he matches the conditioning he had in those contests he could be much higher.

Conclusion
dots

We'll find out if I am out to lunch, on Lonnie Teper's tab of course, or if I am on the money. Typically someone from this contest gets an Arnold invite. I'm not sure who will get one or if there will be one granted this year. I see the top guys in this show as ones who will already be in the Arnold Classic.
