This coming November 7th we will see the resurgence of professional men's bodybuilding in northern California with the 2009 Sacramento Pro. This is the last pro show of the 2009 season, or is it the first pro show of the 2010 season? Technically speaking, the Sacramento Pro could indeed be the first pro show of the 2010 season since it is in fact the first qualifier for the 2010 Olympia weekend. With 3 Olympia spots up for grabs, the fans in Sacramento will be in for an amazing weekend of professional bodybuilding.
As of October 28th there are no fewer than 21 IFBB pro's set to take the stage at the Crest Theater in Sacramento. Included are some of the IFBB's elite competitors such as master poser Darrem Charles, The X Man - Toney Freeman, who coincidentally won this contest in 2007 and IFBB veteran competitor, Pavol Jablonicky, who is going into his 3rd decade as an IFBB Pro, an amazing feat in and of itself! However there are numerous other athletes set to take the stage ready to battle it out in their quest for a much coveted invite to the big dance in Vegas, that is the Mr. Olympia. Martin Kjellstrom of Sweden competed in this year's Mr. Olympia. He is indeed a man mountain and always comes in SHREDDED. He will no doubt be in the running for a top 3 finish. On the other end of the bodybuilding spectrum we have Frenchman, Frederic Sauvage, who possesses a very aesthetic physique and should he nail his conditioning will also be in the running for an Olympia qualification. Home town pro and former USA champion, Kris Dim, is also taking the stage in Sacramento. The former Olympian is a force to be reckoned with in any contest in which he competes.
Speaking of former USA champions, Mark Dugdale has also thrown his hat (or should we say posing trunks) into the mix. Dugdale has had a varied record as a pro placing as high as second in the Pro Ironman, before some poor performances while he tried to play the size game. He competed this year as a 202 athlete and in my opinion, has found his ideal bodyweight. He will be one to watch. Every show I decide to give a rundown in terms of who I think will place where and why, I also mention that there is always a chance of a dark horse coming in and upsetting the 'veterans'. This weekend's dark horse, I think, is going to be Poland's Robert Piotrkowicz. He is a former Overall IFBB World Champion (2007) and in his last two outings this year, he placed 6th in Atlantic City and 5th at the Europa Show, and this could just be the show that catapults him into the realm of IFBB Superstar status. The rest of the lineup is made up of athletes from no fewer than 14 countries, all of whom will be fighting for a chance to be seen here in the USA, the chance to impress some potential sponsors and maybe, just maybe, fulfill every competitive bodybuilders lifelong dream and qualify for the Mr. Olympia.

That's just about the size of it, and I guess we will have to wait until this coming Saturday to find out who will be the first names on the list to join, Jay Cutler, Branch Warren, Dexter Jackson, Kai Greene, Phil Heath and Victor Martinez on the 2010 Mr. Olympia competitor list. Will the names I mentioned here be the athletes we are all talking about come Sunday morning or will we be hearing about some new pro who has shaken the world of bodybuilding, or will the veteran Pavol Jablonicky come in and teach the young guns a lesson or two? Stay tuned to Bodybuilding.com for the events going on in Sacramento this weekend! Recommend this article to a friend by e-mail here!
