Ms. Fitness Olympia: Finals Routine!
-----

I have to say, right off the bat, that although the media/press are some of the closest people to the action, the placement of the stage in relation to the audience is somewhat less than ideal. We're about 10 feet below them, and on an angle, so unless the competitors are close to the front of the stage, you have to either strain your neck to watch the Jumbotron, or you really only see their top half.

Remember going into the night show that Tanji Johnson, Julie Palmer, Adela Garcia, Tracey Greenwood, and Tina Durkin were the favorites. They were the ones that received the first callouts in both the first and second round; and the ones that really impressed me based on the short routines we saw this morning.

Myriam Capes started off the night show with a warrior themed routine. She was spunky, fun and entertaining, but nothing particularly mesmerizing.

With Regiane De Silva, I just can't seem to get over just how d@mn muscular she is. Her routine was extremely athletic (which I expected given the 45-second one she did this morning), and I expect this to bump up her placing. However, one cannot overlook the fact that when compared to the other competitors in the 1 and 2 piece rounds, she just looks slightly out of place.

The first of the top callouts (from this morning) to go was Tina Durkin. If this girl doesn't have a gymnastics background, you could've fooled me. She's spunky, cute and athletic. With a Vegas/gambling themes routine, I think the judges made the right call by pulling her out in the first callout this morning.

This was Adela's second show since coming back from her injury (the first being the Europa Super Show), and it looks like two times the charm for this girl. She had just the right balance between dance, flexibility and strength moves. Adela was also dressed like a vampire (complete with fangs), which is always cool.

Regarding Tracey Greenwood, I'm a fan of any competitor that can transition from a handstand to a pushup, so she's definitely won me over. The routine was great and extremely creative.

Tanji Johnson was next. It's great to see three of the girls who were in the top 5 callouts go back-to-back-to-back. It makes it easier (at least as an observer) to compare their routines. She did it in the morning show, and she did it again tonight; Tanji KNOWS how to work the audience and engage them. You can tell this girl just LOVES what she does, and emotes through her routines. It's beautiful to watch.

(Note: Bob Chic said that Mindi O'Brien is often announced as a National level bodybuilder, but she's ALWAYS been a fitness competitor. I told you guys she was muscular... Mindi stopped her routine in the middle after it looked like she tweaked her back. She walked offstage promptly.)

The last of the top five (who were in the callouts this morning) to perform was Julie Palmer. It might just be me, but her color looks SLIGHTLY off. This didn't take away from her energetic routine though. It was good, but not as impressive as some of the others we've seen tonight.

I want to give Trish Warren points for creativity. Her routine was Fergie (of the Black Eyed Peas) inspired; so it was high energy, with sexy moves. The strength component in and of itself was good, but pretty much on par with a lot of the other girls. Her creativity could win her extra points though.

    6) Myriam Capes (I knew there was a reason I mentioned her even though she wasn't in the first callout this morning. This girl is on her way up...)
    5) Tina Durkin
    4) Julie Palmer
    3) Tracey Greenwood
    2) Tanji Johnson
    1) Adela Garcia - Could've gone either way between her and Tanji, but I'm glad the Queen is back on her thrown.

As another reminder: Heather Armbrust, Debi Laszewski, Iris Kyle, Yaxeni Oriquen-Garcia, and Lisa Aukland were in the first callouts from this morning.

Heather displays A LOT of muscularity, but it's feminine muscularity. Her hams and glutes could've used some work, but she's trimmed herself down from past shows, and has some incredible shape and conditioning (from the front). I think she'll be in the Top 3 tonight (either placing 2nd or 3rd behind Iris).

The first word that comes to mind when looking at Lisa is 'conditioning'. She definitely tightened up from this morning, especially in the legs. From the side and the back, she now has lines in her glutes, which was pretty scare among the women this morning. She's apparently been focusing on her back during the offseason, and it's definitely paid off. All her muscle bellies are full and hard, and I'd say she brought her A-game.

Although Dayana Cadeau wasn't in the first callout this morning, I have to mention her because I still can't get over just how much size she's put on. Seriously. I'm wow'ed. But as I wrote this morning, it's come at a price: Lines, femininity and conditioning; which is unfortunate in a sport that rewards all three.

Her redeeming quality is that her routines are always sexy and well choreographed; she doesn't just get out there and hit the mandatory poses with some dance-y moves thrown in. It's clearly well thought out and well executed.

On the topic of competitors who weren't in the first callout, Rosemary Jennings impresses me. She's got lats that flex when she's not trying, and seem to insert at her hipbones. It's hard to determine whether her structure is good or bad; it's just so unique. I like her lines and muscle bellies though. However, she could've used a little more conditioning; specifically, drier legs (front and back) and back.

Iris "I'm the best bodybuilder in the world" Kyle. What more can be said? She's unbeatable. I knew it before I got to Vegas, I thought it this morning when I saw her at prejudging, and I'll still be thinking it on the plane ride home. Pick a body part, and Iris will go head-to-head with any other competitor on stage, and come out on top. No two ways about it. This woman works HARD, and it pays off.

She doesn't rely on past wins or laurels to help carry her through from show to show. No, she REproves herself each time; showing the audience and the judges why she deserved the three Olympia titles she already has, and why she deserves to have more come to her.

Debi looked GREAT. If ANYONE were to rival Iris from the back, it'd be Debi. Her shape is perfect, with an extremely complete physique. She's also very feminine, and added to it by covering herself in gold glitter (kinda cool...).

Yaxeni was Yaxeni. Always one of the biggest girls on stage, but she uses it to her advantage. Although she's slightly smaller this year than in years past, she still packs SO MUCH dense, hard muscle onto her frame, it's hard to lose sight of her in a line up. She OWNS the stage in terms of her routine performance. It's like she's a woman who knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to go get it.

I think the judges made great choices with who they picked for their first callouts this morning. None of the other women got significantly better between the morning and the night shows, so I really don't have that much to add.
