After last year’s strong showing in York, PA, Brian N. Washington, President of the United States Bodybuilding Federation returned the 2007 version back to its’ original roots in his backyard of Baltimore, MD. In all, the numbers were a tad smaller than previous but quality physiques were never lacking at Randallstown, MD high school.
The prejudging began promptly at 11 AM with the Ms USBF Figure short class. The beautiful Heather Brooke-Malone continued her winning ways with a class win over Cathy Ankeny and Victoria Hankerson, she continued to steamroll the field with a win over tall class winner Michelle O’Banion who edged Angela Brown-Sells.
Lovely Tiffany Key took care of business in the Figure novice class edging out Ms. Hankerson, Brown-Sells, Alison Dietrich, O’Banion, and Rachel Barber. Cathy Ankeny returned to win the Figure masters 35+ over a game field consisting of Ms Hankerson, Brown-Sells, and Barber.
In women’s bodybuilding, the master 35+ and 40+ were combined as Lolita Earle won the 35+ class and Mercy Gonzales taking the 40+ class over Gloria Moorehead and Augin Gray.
Men Master 50+ Richard Vanskiver was harder and earned a squeaker over Kevin “ID check” Roberson. Men Master 40+ This was the largest and a most highly-contested class with Luther Bradford out shredding this field. The other award winners were Richard Vanskiver, David Newsome, Jack Chilcoat, and Charles Riddle. Men Master 35+
Mike Duffy left no doubt in picking up another first place piece of hardware over Bobby Price and Glenn Finley. Male Jr 23 & under was taken by Kojo Umoja and James Simmons claimed the Male Teen class over Greg Fincham. Men's Open Andrew Uong and Greg Fincham won the Men open bantom and lightweight respectively with L.T. Thomas picking up a victory over Mike Duffy, Mr. Vanskiver, James Tomkins, and crowd favorite, amputee Richard Herskovitz who proved there is nothing too difficult to overcome if you focus your mind towards something positive. Nick Monroe narrowly took the open light heavy class over Jack Chilcoat, David Newsome, Umoja, and Professor Douglas Washington. Luther Bradford returned to sweep the open heavyweight with over a determined Jake McCrone, Marvin Cole, Charles Riddle, and veteran Cedric Teamer. Men's Novice Novice heavyweight Jack Chilcoat was sharper and more polish than Robert Miller to get the novice overall title. Jack promises to step up his training to focus on open competition and a future pro card. Battle For Overall Luther Bradford was steamrolling along on this day and won the open overall with his chiseled physique and broad smile. Clearly, he was having a good time on this day.
