The 2nd annual 2007 NPC Bill Grant Bodybuilding & Figure Classic was part of the Lehigh Valley Sportsfest at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown PA on Sunday July 15th. The large crowd toughed-out the hot sun and stayed enthusiastically pumped up from the beginning to the end of the show.
The show opened up with the National Anthem classically sung by Jaquetta Perry, a true entertainer, singer and actress. Next was an exciting and entertaining physique routine from guest poser, Martin Luther King Addo; sponsored by Prolab. Then the 1st part of the show, Pre-judging, which has competitors doing synchronized mandatory poses followed by a mini-concert by Jersey Connect and ending with the 2nd part, Finals, where each athlete does a posing routine to music.
Contestants came from NJ, NY, & PA. The competitors looked great and did a fantastic job. Each and every one should be commended for their hard work and dedication it took to be on stage that day. Every participant received a competitor bag with an official Bodybuilding.com t-shirt and more goodies inside from our sponsors. The overall winners received $250 worth of supplements courtesy of Top Physique, JBN & Bill Grant Nutrition.
Besides the general vendors lining the park for other Sportsfest activities, the immediate event site was filled with specialty vendors giving out samples of their products, T-shirts and other free goodies for spectators to take home. It was a fun-filled day for all who attended.
Legendary Bodybuilder, Mr. America/Mr. World Bill Grant of Bill Grant Nutrition and IFBB/NPC promoter Craig Johnson of Top Physique Productions organized this Bodybuilding & Figure event. Legendary Leon Brown showed up to show his support for his long-time friend Bill Grant.
This outdoor public venue tucked amidst a welter of other ‘SportsFest’ event competitions ranging from power lifting, arm wrestling, boxing, basketball, soccer, tennis, martial arts, dog agility, etc. is part of a 4 day 'SportsFest' and Admission is free at this event.
A live performance by Jersey Connect (JerseyConnectShow.com) entertained the crowd before and during the show featuring everything from Hip Hop to Reggae and R&B to Gospel.
The local news, Service Electric TV2 Sports covered the event with a two-day preview broadcast of the show and was also there to capture the excitement of the day which will air the following week in July.
Martin Luther King Addo, 2004 Musclemania Nation's Capitol Overall Winner and Prolab representative Taylor Boyd, 2006 NPC Garden State Classic Overall Winner Sean Jones, NPC NJ State Champion all looked amazing and put on a phenomenal routine.
We wish them great success in their future endeavors. Thank you for giving crowd pleasing routines!
The most emotional moment of the day was the life-time achievement and special appreciation award given to Charles Brown for his dedication to the sport. At age 63 and only four years after undergoing double-bypass heart surgey, Charlie announced his retirement. We will miss him in competition but he will be back next year to support the show.
A very special thank you to the judges, sponsors and extensive coverage from television, local newspapers and national magazines of this event. We could not have done this without them.
