The 2007 NPC Mike Francois Classic held May 12th in Powell, Ohio was special in many ways. Not only were we commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Classic, but the night concluded with the crowning of our Men’s Bodybuilding overall champion, Steve Huntzinger, a college student who recently endured the national tragedy at Virginia Tech.
Although all the divisions were truly full of quality competitors, it appeared the battle for overall champion would come from the Heavyweight or Light Heavyweight division. In the end, Steve won the Heavyweight division and went on to win the overall. The quality of the competitors continued into the Men’s Masters and Men’s Novice divisions with Todd Reider taking first in the Masters and Scott Keener taking the Novice.
The women bodybuilders battled it out as well with Carrie Walend taking the overall crown. As always, the figure competitors were exceptional and all divisions were extremely competitive. At the end of the night, Lori Staats won the Masters Figure and Stacy Helfinstine, the Figure B winner, took the overall.
