5K Pump & Run:
The Arnold 5K Pump and Run has changed the sport of running. What began as a way for athletes to show their overall fitness by pressing their body weight and completing a simple 5K run has evolved into the premiere event to demonstrate complete fitness for athletes.
Some athletes prefer running as their test of fitness. Others use strength to measure their prowess. The athletes who participate in the Arnold 5K Pum & Run have changed the way others view fitness.
Armwrestling:
Champion armwrestlers from England, Switzerland, and Canada joined top athletes from the United States to compete for the ten thousand dollars awarded in prize money at the 2006 Arnold Classic Armwrestling Challenge. The Arnold Classic Armwrestling Challenge held at the annual Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio is the culmination of five qualifying events.
Only the best of the best qualify to participate in this prestigious event and the battles that took place over the two days of competition proved just that to the thousands of spectators.
Bench Press Championship:
The Arnold Bench Press Championship is the oldest competition held on the stage of the Arnold Fitness EXPO.

History says the strength competitions are what started the bodybuilding events. They are not distance cousins in any discussion. More like equal siblings. One's just a few years younger than the other.
Registration information is available at the World Powerlifting Organization web site.

Boxing:
The inaugural Arnold Championship Friday Nights Fights in 2006 began a new era in sports action at the Arnold Sports Festival.
We added Nationwide Arena to the venue list for the weekend, taking virtually all convention space near downtown Columbus.
This means more action, more athletes, more fitness stars and more for you to do at the weekend.
Cheerleading / Dance:
About 4,000 competitors will be participating in this year's Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship as part of the Arnold Sports Festival, March 2-4, 2007.

Youth DanceSport is widely recognized as a leading exercise style that incorporates significant mastery of posture, presentation, total body coordination, costuming, physical endurance, and great fun. It offers young boys and girls an opportunity to be mutually engaged in activity that is comfortable and stylistic.

New Events For 2007

Sumo Wrestling:
The Arnold Sports Festival will bring another first to Columbus, Ohio in 2007 ... the time honored Japanese sport of SUMO Wrestling. Jim Lorimer, Producer of the Weekend events commented, â€?"We will host a world-level SUMO demonstration event in 2007. This is another exciting extension of the international scope of the Arnold Sports Festival.â€
The concept of bringing SUMO to the Weekend has been in discussion since 2002. In 2006, Jim Seitzer, a longtime associate of the Weekend presented the idea anew to Jim Lorimer. Seitzer commented, "Sumo is over-the-top. It is exotic and is surrounded by a mystery that appeals to all sports enthusiasts. Sumo has an intangible that connects a broad fan base and it is fun to watch.
