The 2006 Sportsfest Bill Grant Bodybuilding & Figure Classic was held at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown PA on Sunday July 9th. The outdoor venue is a part of a 4 day 'Sports Fest' with competitions ranging from power lifting, arm wrestling, boxing, basketball, soccer, tennis, martial arts, dog agility, etc. Legendary bodybuilder and former Mr. America/Mr. World Bill Grant organized the Bodybuilding & Figure event. The men's overall bodybuilding champion was Dino Campbell of lower Macungie, PA. The figure overall champion was Jessica Rohm, a nationally ranked fitness and figure competitor from Phillipsburg, NJ.
One of the best stories from the show was a man named Charlie Brown, at 62 years of age and only three years after undergoing double-bypass heart surgery, competed in his first bodybuilding show. "What do you have to lose after heart surgery and being this old?" he said when asked, why was he entering his first bodybuilding competition?
Cody Lindenmuth of Whitehall, PA got back on stage after entering this competition two years prior at the age of 15. Now at 17 years old and putting on 7lbs of muscle from his last competition. Cody said "Competing in bodybuilding shows helps me gain more confidence to do things I normally wouldn't do." The show started at 1pm with a couple hundred spectators cheering on the competitors of this unique event.
