If I got a penny every time I saw a guy doing biceps curls in a squat rack I would be rich.

some gyms don't have a designated place to do straight bar curls. so there are a lot of people who do curls in the squat rack. just get in there and get your reps and sets done and move on.

#3 is a recurring problem at my gym....so much so that there is a team of trainers that police it now....if i see it i just call them out on it. As for #8...... it's all about the peripherals....LOL.

I`m from Chile and you can see all 10 being broken at any gym. Though, in the gyms Ive been, I`ve never heard anyone bullying overweight people.
Just hate when people dont take their weights, or leave that dumbells everywhere.

People at my gym do all of these things. I've realized that if you're eating enough protein, you can just walk up to where they're lifting and rip some nasty @$$. Everyone just kind of peters out after that. War is ugly, you have to be willing to do what your opponent won't.

I feel these are are more directed at a "fitness center" than what I would truly define as a "gym". When I think gym I think open floor warehouse, chalk, yelling, possibly loud music on over head speakers, plenty of equipment...and a tendency to be smell...but not like a ton of axe spray either lol.

Rule #11 - Be friendly. The gym can be an indimitating place, especially for beginners. Always be willing to say hello or how ya doing when crossing paths. The encouragement may make the difference whether someone will continue coming to the gym. And who knows, you may find a good friend.

There are so many rude people in the world, the gym is just a microcosm of that. I cannot tell you how many times I have been on a bench, CLEARLY it's mine for the moment, my towel is on it, my bag is next to it and I'm standing beside it, and some ******* will just come over and start using it. I also can't stand the douche bags and ******* who use 3 different machines/stations, they will be away from 2 of them for at least 10 minutes, but they jump your **** if you try to work in. Then there are the idiots who lounge on equipment they are not using in between sets on another.

My biggest gym fear is #10. It's why I don't work out at night. There's this group of buff guys at my gym who are very intimidating. I try to ignore them, but if I catch them watching me, I instantly wonder if they're going to say something. I know I shouldn't worry about it, but I do.

Don't, really don't do that.
I weighted over 100kg (220pounds) and had a bf percentage of 31 when I started in my gym, so people probably thought I was yet another fat noob who tries to change himself.

The first few weeks/months I didn't do that much, but then i revolved. I dedicated myself to hours of cardio/week, a little power training and cleaner living and within a few months (from feb to june) I've lost about 25kg and 15% bf.

Nowadays you find me a lot more often in the weightroom part of my gym and people I didn't now congratulate me of my performance.

Keep in mind that some of those buff people started that way ;)

Then gets on rack with 6 plates on each side picks that up 5 inches and slams it down. He bends the crap out of bars. As far as laughing at people out of shape thats horrible. Can we add working out safely, and using basic safety equipment? Something that bothers me is when I see people not using the bar clamps. I have only seen a plate slide far enough for someone to drop the bar once, and the person didn't get hurt, but the clamps were right there on rack next to the bench. My gym has them in spades, an no one seems to use them. Is it that it takes to long to use them?

Also, stop criticizing people who use equipment that makes working easier and/or more fun. I am thinking of the bar pads for squatting here. If it works for them, it's none of your business. There is nothing manly about being a jerk.

LMFAO at all these comments, this is by far one of the best articles that BBCOM has posted that I've read all the way through, and I do not read as often as I should. I am not to sure I agree with all the rules but it was a great article!

Who the **** has ever made fun of a fat person in a gym? I think that's in there just for the reps. Seriously It's nothing but inspirational to see a fat person on the treadmill. Makes you think "WOW I've been sucking in here".
