Bodybuilding.com doesnt have vid of just a good ol' skullcrucher. So dont do it on a decline for starters. If you go heavy on it to challenge youself, you will do a backflip. Literally, I know. W/O a spotter it is very dangerous. I went heavy, 145 lbs and as I went to my head and used my triceps and only my triceps, the front end of the dcline bench flipped upwards, next thing I knew the front end was in the air, standing pround like Mt. Everest, while I got the bar up and DID the full rep while the bench flipped, next thing I almost dropped it all on top of my skull, which would've hurt, while I rolled back.
Dont do this heavy unless you have a spotter and another guy holding the bench down and have it weighted down with chains or 45 lbs. plates.
Reason why it happened is because on a decline bench your feet must be locked into place by a pad, so you dont slide down while you use it for any type of lift. It is used used a counterweight. So you see, That NEVER would have happened if I was on a flat bench.
Ok for you, as in 'you' the reader, dont do the close grip part of this exercise it is horrid and great way to get 'picthers elbow'.
Other then that, this excellent exercise to isolate the entire tricep. The top and bottom front and back heads, the inner triceps and outer part of it. Youll actually feel it all over your triceps unlike other tricep workouts, instead of one area of your tri's.
Keep in mind to do it on a flat bench W/O the Close Grip Decline part.-See Less
