For beginners, as long as they're going deep enough to make the crease of their hip be level with their knee, it's enough to get them started, and you don't want to go much lower than that even as an experienced lifter. The last thing you want is someone new to lifting to stop because they pulled their groin trying to make their glutes kiss the bottom of their calves in an exercise they're trying to learn let alone master. -See Less
