A properly done Bent Press is an excellent, albeit complex, exercise. It was a standard lift among the old-time strongmen, who felt that the Bent Press improved their other lifts. Reputedly invented by pioneering German strongman Ludwig Durlacher (aka Professor Louis Attila), the Bent Press was made popular by such noteworthy Physical Culturalists as Eugen Sandow, Arthur Saxon, and Sig Klein. Arthur Saxon established the record for the Bent Press (a staggering 370 lbs) back in 1905, and his record has never been broken.-See Less
