the main reason i dislike this exercise is that way too many people use atleast 10-30% range of motion which from a small distance looks like calve raises. however, it's generally more safe than the squat esp. on your spine since you don't have a large weight on your shoulders; and there's less pressure on legs since you're not using bodyweight (main reason many people can leg press more than squat)-See Less
