Poor substitute for real full squats. Leg press has less range of motion being performed especially for the hip flexors and the glutes (your quads are never parallel to your torso) Most people can leg press 3-4 times as much weight as they can full squat due in part to the weight being pressed on a 45-60* angle to gravity which means actual resiatance is only 45-60% of loaded weight. Couple that with a reduced range of motion and you have a very easy exercise to perform with heavy weight. -See Less
