Excellent compound exercise. The barbell squat version, with bar on the back, would rate a 10 except for the fact that safety can be an issue (one should have a spotter for heavy squats). Excellent compound exercise. The barbell squat version, with bar on the back, would rate a 10 except for the fact that safety can be an issue (one should have a spotter for heavy squats). Also, in many cases the limiting factor is the lower back rather than the quads. Otherwise, this move is an excellent indicator of strength and promotes conditioning as well.-See Less
