Tip: Hyperextensions (Back Extensions)
Dec 14, 2011 7:10 AM: There are 2 different types of hyperextension benches at my gym, one like that in the pic, and one with your legs up higher, and straight out behind you. I've been using the one with my legs straight out behind you... what is the difference between them? Should I go back to the one like that in the...+See More

Aug 5, 2011 4:40 PM: Great exercise. This is one I was given to do in PT to strengthen the muscles around the arthritis in my low back. Strong muscles do wonders to take the pressure off and this exercise definitely gets the job done!

Jun 20, 2011 4:55 PM: What are lying back extensions? I am in a facility that has no bench or ball (I know I know but it's all I have to work with right now). I need an alternative that I can do without a spot. Please.

Tip: Hyperextensions (Back Extensions)
May 2, 2011 10:17 AM: Do NOT do this exercise unless you've already strengthened your lower back muscles to an above-average level. I suffered from lower back pain for a while and was told by my doctor to strengthen my lower back muscles, so I headed off to the gym and started doing these...
Well, two weeks...+See More

Apr 12, 2011 10:55 AM: Simple, highly effective! Many back exercises take quiet a time for beginners to master and hit the muscle right, this one is needs none of that. Holding weights while performing the exercise insanely doubles the intensity, I would very much recommend this exercise to everyone.

Jan 31, 2011 3:19 AM: I love this exercise. However, since I do not have a Hyperextension Bench I have improvised a Hyperextension Bench with our Power Rack and our incline/decline bench. I place the bench perpendiculiar to the cross bar of the power rack. I put the cross bar at level 8. I put the decline end of the...+See More

Jul 27, 2010 9:21 AM: Truly a great exercise for the lower back.
I agree 2 sets of 25 would be great.
An our gym, we have this (45 yrs) guy, who does 200 non-stop reps daily and that too with a 10-lbs weight over his chest. I salute this dude for his stamina and concentration.

Mar 14, 2010 6:44 PM: How many reps should you do for this type of exercise. I feel it is endurance type exercise like abs? High reps? At what point should I cap my reps, and increase the weight I am holding?

Jan 21, 2010 8:03 PM: Great exercise. Good isolation, and you can really feel the burn if you throw some weight on your chest or behind your neck. Great follow to deadlifts..
