How Did You Get Started?
I pole vaulted in high school and started lifting during the off season to improve my vaulting. Once I went to college, I began a regular lifting program when I took a weight training class during the fall semester of 1999. It wasn't until May of 2000 that I decided to compete. I was in a store when a man just asked me if I worked out. He told me that he was putting on a bodybuilding show and that I should come watch it. Well, I decided while I was sitting in the audience that I would be on that stage next year. So, for the next year I trained really hard and couldn't believe it when the day finally arrived!
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
For the last 12 weeks before the show I worked out on a two on, one off, two on, one off routine. It seemed to work really well. I trained chest and biceps together, then legs, then shoulders and triceps, and finally back and hamstrings. I did cardio for 45 minutes 6 days a week. That's the part I really didn't like and probably could have done a little more of!
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Well, I tried the creatine serum and I seemed to like that along with a good multi vitamin. I really tried not to take too many supplements. I did enjoy the EAS Low Carb protein bars. For only having 3 grams of carbohydrates, they are really good!
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I have always enjoyed lifting weights and now it gives me something to work for. I love having an end goal and working towards that one day when all the hard work pays off. Plus, it feels good to be in shape.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
Well, I plan on competing again in October, and who knows after that. As long as I am enjoying it, I want to continue training and competing.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Set your goals and keep your eyes on them. And when you are craving the sweets, eat sugar free, fat free jello!!! :)
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
To be honest, I don't really have one. I haven't been into bodybuilding long enough to really have one. I admire anyone who has the dedication to compete!
