How Did You Get Started?

I started lifting weights in 1989 when I saw some older guys lifting and after finding out how old these guys were. My dream was thrown into the mist. These guys were in their 50's and over and I promise you they were in better shape and looked much better than those in their 20's and 30's. I promised to grow up like these guys and dedication have been my rewards. During this time I learned much about the body and training others.

My new dream is to show the people 40 and over that they can obtain a great body regardless of age as well as lifting weights, training, learning nutrition and stretching. Just allowing the body to go past its limitation is a wonderful feeling in itself. I'll always love Bodybuilding; it's apart of me.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Let me start by saying that everybody will never use the same workout plan. But everybody can gain from each other's workout plan. I tried many of other's work out plan and every six month I tried a new one. I found this lead to be rewarding to the growth of my muscles and every six months I change the workout. I workout four to five days a week, 1 - 2 hours a day. I love the mixture of lifting weights and afterward do calesthenics to somewhat sooth the muscles. Some call this a cool down.

I have placed friends on plans and have seem them grow great and they can't stop requesting advise. At 185 - 187 lbs I have a 420lbs bench press, 320lbs clean and jerk, 525lbs squat and at 43 years of age I consider this to be at the top of the line and let's not forget a wonderful looking physique to show.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I believe in healthy eating such things as juices, eggs whites, fish, chicken, beans, vegetables, fruits and an assortment of a select groups of carbs.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I have never used Supplements and feel the body can reach great growth in time. I believe in healthy eating such things as juices, eggs whites, fish, chicken, beans, vegetables, fruits and an assortment of a select groups of carbs. However I know of some supplements that are great for cuts, Hydroxycut weight gain, Cell Tech, MuscleTech etc. I am a firm believer that these supplements should be used in short periods and one should go no further.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding gave me the meaning of some very important words that have helped me greatly in life. Allow me to share a few of them with you: "Dedication;" I never realized what dedication was until I found myself working out despite the conditions of the weather or working out after a hard day of work at the job. Dedication has been applied to my friends, family, work out partners and most of all GOD.

I love the feeling I get when I walk through the mall and people marvel at me and sometimes they will stop me and ask if I'm "natural". The adrenaline you get when working out can get to the point of euphoria. I've never been in competition except bringing the beast out in the weight room and a guy calls you out and the shirts come off and then the pants. If I can win my first ever gift as the amateur bodybuilder of the week. You guys may see me on stage in the near future.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to show the other guys that we can still compete with the young ones that call us "Pops". A clothing model may come in line but I only think it will come when you are on stage showing what you have. I am currently a Personal Trainer and seek to learn as much as I can about the body. Not every bodybuilder knows every muscle and bone in the body and let's not forget you have proof with a body. I love helping bodybuilders build that body. That's what it's all about.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

  • A winner never gives up and what are goals if you don't plan on being a winner.
  • The body is the temple, as land is to our creation without it we are nothing.
  • It is easy to see what your body can do for you but it's hard to do it for your body, that's the challenge.
