How Did You Get Started?
I have been a life long athlete, and have always enjoyed lifting weights. Although I competed 6 years ago twice, I really would have to say I have been earnestly bodybuilding for 1 year. Late last year, I was out of shape and made the commitment to become a life long natural bodybuilder and live the lifestyle.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
I am currently doing a 5 day split routine that I really think fits my needs. The program is as follows:
Sample 5 Day Split:
Day 2: Chest/ Abs
Day 3: Back/Light Calves
Day 4: Shoulders/ Triceps
Day 5: Hamstrings/ Biceps/Abs
Day 6: OFF - no weight training
Day 7: REPEAT cycle
The exercises I use are changed every three rounds, so my body is constantly getting different movements and I always try to out-perform my previous workout, even if it only by one rep! My main goal is to keep moving forward.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?
While I eat healthy year round now, the past 14 weeks, I have been carbohydrate cycling and that has produced my best results. Carb cycling means that on heavy workout days, such as back or quads, I eat more carbohydrates, and on the other workout days, I eat only about 60% of the carbs as on a heavy carb day.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love the way it makes me feel, and look in clothes, and in my bathing suit! I enjoy being healthy and knowing the fact that I am doing everything I can to lead a natural bodybuilding lifestyle to the best of my ability.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I would like to earn my pro card in the WNBF in either the Master's and/or Open categories. I plan on competing once per year for the foreseeable future, but with a wife and 2 children at home, and another child on the way, competing may have to take a back seat for a little while. I would like to take some time off and really concentrate on my weaker body parts.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Be patient with your progress and listen to your body!
