How Did You Get Started?

I went to the Arnold Classic last year for the first time. Several people kept coming up to me and asking if I was a competitor and which nutrition company I was there with. I had no idea what they were talking about. Then I seen the figure/fitness pro's up on the stage. They were "AWSOME." I knew right then at that very moment what I was going to do. I've always worked out, but never to that extreme. I started training with Ohio State women's bodybuilding champion Lori Melton from Galion, Ohio.

I had seven months to prepare for my first show. She took me to a whole new level of training. I never had lifted heavy before. I was so afraid I would get "too big." I had to learn to eat for a purpose and not just because the food tasted good. This meant of course a whole lot of diet changes. All the hard work started paying off more than I ever could have imagined. I took second at the John Simmons Bodybuilding Classic, third at the Ohio State Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Classic and second at the Natural Northern USA all in the figure tall division.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

  • Mon: Back & Shoulders, 30 minutes cardio
  • Tue: Legs, 30 minutes cardio
  • Wed: Biceps & Triceps, 30 minutes cardio
  • Thu: Back & Shoulders, 30 minutes cardio
  • Fri: Legs, 30 minutes cardio
  • Sat: 50 minutes cardio
  • Sun : 50 minutes cardio
I also do abs three to four times a week and everyday one month before show.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I don't really count calories. I concentrate more on getting in enough protein and fiber. I think a high fiber diet is one of the key elements in getting shredded. It also keeps me feeling full so I don't get hungry in between meals. I eat anywhere from six to eight small meals a day usually consisting of protein such as chicken breasts, egg whites or a Protein Shake and also a complex carb, such as oatmeal or brown rice.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Whey Protein Powder has helped me out the most.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

It makes me feel alive!! Being a nurse, I'm reminded everyday how short life is. I just want to live mine to the fullest.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to compete at a National level this upcoming season. I'm going to train with professional trainer Mike Davies at the Fitness Factory to prepare. Of course my ultimate goal is to make it to the Olympia.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Stay focused. Don't lose site of your goals. It's up to you to make things happen, nobody can do it for you.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Jenny Worth, Elaine Goodland, Monica Brant and Adela Friedmansky are my favorite pros.
