Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Week: Lisa Sonterre-Hausfeld! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

I have always been into fitness, but had retreated into the very bad habit of making excuses. I ended up meeting the owner of a local gym and personal trainer that helped change my attitude for working out.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

In the beginning, it was total body strength training and cardio. Then after I shed the 47 unwanted pounds my trainer and friend Angelo Audia convinced me to train for a figure competition.

He then turned me over to one of the other trainers that loves to compete and also loves to train men and women for competitions. We changed to targeting different body parts on each day w/Sundays off and upping my weights w/ less repetitions.

This has been the key for me lately. Mondays would be legs, Tuesday-cardio only, Wednesday- arms and gluts, Thursday-Back and shoulders, Friday- legs again, Saturday-cardio and of course everyday was abs.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

High protein, w/75 carbs and cycling has been the best nutrition for me. Realizing that I can eat "good carbs" has been the most beneficial. Going from thin w/muscularity and looking flat to less body fat and muscularity looking full w/the help of the "good carbs," has been the most beneficial for me.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Cell Tech-Creatine, Vanadyl Sulfate, protein and complex good carbs.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love fitness now, because I feel so confident and if I do not work out when not getting ready for a competition then I feel like I am missing something. Once in this "great habit" of working out it becomes a part of your daily life. A neccessity.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

My future plans are to continue to maintain what I have currently gained body wise and gain more mass for the next figure competition and then go back to the Beverly International in March 2006 to take overall. I would also like to become certified in personal training and fitness and possibly open my own gym, nothing too big but big enough for people similar to me to feel like they are home.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Listen to your trainers and also to learn to know your body let your trainers know what you think and feel and listen to your own body, love exercising because it can become a passion.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I only truly know one and he helped me the most, his name is Monty Mabry. He has competed in several bodybuilding competitions he has been named Mr. Virginia. He not only helps you train and achieve your body goals, but he trains your mind.
