Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Week: Jenn Paul! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

There was a Board and easel outside the Ladies Locker room announcing a class that was starting for a "figure" competition. They were teaching about diet, posing, suits, competitions, cardio, and weight training. Therefore, I decided to check it out and liked the program and decided to join!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I worked out 6 days a week. Cardio every day 10-30 minutes. Rotating on stepper, elliptical, treadmill, upright bike, and the rotating set of stairs (2 minutes high rep/ 2 minutes high resistance).

As far as lifting:

    Day 1) Tri's, bi's, and shoulders.

Day 2) Chest, back, & abs

Day 3) Legs-squats, lunges, step up, side to side with bands, jumping on steps.

Calves, & extensions. Also very important; I always superset! Very little rest, a great cardio workout while I am lifting! In and out in 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

Competition History:

    3-14-05 - 1st place Master's Division Mini Triathlon 2nd place overall.

    4-23-05 - 1st place Master's Division Tracy Traskos Fitness/Figure Classic 2nd place overall.

5-6 Meals a day, spaced every 3 hours. My intake list contains the following: protein, carbs, veggies, sometimes good fats, eggs, egg whites, chicken, tuna, salmon, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, green apples (sometimes with almond butter and/or natural peanut butter), Ezekiel bread (1 slice on high cardio days), broccoli, brussel sprouts, almonds, walnuts, dried cherries, and lots and lots of water. Cut out all caffeine and all alcohol. 1-2 piece of chocolate as a reward on Sunday's.
