How Did You Get Started?

When I was young, I developed asthma. That meant that I was on the bench during every game and activity throughout my childhood. When I went to college, I got an inhaler to help control my asthma attacks and that opened up a whole new world of physical activity for me that I had never known.

From that point forward there was nothing that I wouldn't try! I had, after all, so much time to make up for. Road races, triathlons, dance class, skating lessons...you name it, I tried it.

Fitness competitions were, to me, the epitome of it all. There was no sport quite like fitness! Having no gymnastics or dance background, I didn't think I could do it, but I decided to give it a try 6 years ago, and the rest, as they say, is history!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

My workouts during competition season include the following:

4 day body split on weights: back & abs, legs, shoulders & abs, chest & arms. I do cardio 5-6 days per week and I train routine 2 - 3 times per week for 1 - 2 hours.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I have tried it all in regards to nutrition. This year I have been working with Kim Oddo, Body by "O", in California, and I have never felt so healthy and on top of my game. His philosophy is about eating good wholesome foods that power my workouts. Those include healthy carbohydrates, lean protein, good fats, and plenty of veggies and fruits.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

This year for the first time I have been using glutamine and found great success with it. When I diet I tend to lose muscle and my body looks unbalanced. The glutamine has helped me to maintain my muscle while getting lean. It has made all the difference.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love fitness, without a doubt, for the friends that I have made. I belong to Team Savage, a group of closely knit girls that all compete together. Cathy Savage and Paula Harvey (lil' P) at Savage Choreography in Massachusetts are my choreographers and their philosophy about fitness is that years down the line, the moment you are on stage will not be remembered as much as the friendships you made along the way to the stage. They have never been more right!

If it weren't for my Savage Sisters all across the country (and particularly my girls in New England), I wouldn't be doing this six years later!!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

My plans for the future are to compete at the national level in Fitness America. I have never been to the nationals in California and this year you can't keep me away! My routine this year ROCKS (thank you lil' P) and I can't wait to perform it on stage.

So far, I am going to be competing at the Fitness Atlantic in CT, the Kumite Classic in Pittsburgh, the Fitness Univere in Miami and the Fitness America Nationals in California. I might give the NPC a go this year, too, if my physique seems right...we'll see!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Don't let fitness rule your life. This is a hobby that's supposed to be fun! Family and friends come first! Because this sport takes so much time, we tend to get consumed. Don't let it consume you.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I absolutely LOVE Monica Brandt-Peckham. I met her once in Toronto and she was the nicest, most down-to-earth person. Her physique is always right on and her composure at competition is phenomenal. She is a true champion! Mia Finnegan is also one of my long time favorites. When I was reading fitness magazines and dreaming about fitness she graced more pages than I can remember.
