How Did You Get Started?
Throughout my life I have always been athletic and loved every aspect of fitness. I played numerous sports ranging from basketball, football, tennis and my favorite being softball. Although I loved sports I needed another goal. As a child I remember watching fitness competitions of TV, and told myself by the time I turn 21 I want to look like that.
I met my boyfriend who happened to be a bodybuilder and, after watching him compete in April 2007, I was determined to compete in figure 2008. (Ironically at the age of 21) Neil and I trained hard in the off season. I decided 20 weeks out I would hire a trainer (Bob Watson) to provide me with the diet and advice I needed to compete in my first novice show.
I ended up getting 3rd place out of 10 girls and felt great. I decided to compete this year in provincials and again took 3rd place, but I had a definite improvement in my physique from my first show.

Why Do You Love Fitness?
I love fitness and bodybuilding because it is a never ending sport. You are always trying to achieve a new goal, and improve your physique. I love pushing my body to the limit and seeing the transformations from day to day. I love fitness not only because you feel better as a person, but it allows you to have more energy throughout the day and a more positive outlook on life.
It develops your confidence levels that you need not only in the gym and on stage, but in real life. I truly believe that if you are able to compete in a sport that is not just physically but mentally challenging that you can accomplish anything.
What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?
Eating clean and working out regularly motivates me alone because that is where I feel the best physically and emotionally. When I am not doing this I start to feel my energy levels drop and I feel terrible in general. Forums/blogs and magazines also motivate me to keep training hard. And lastly seeing others reach their personal fitness goals and ask for my advice and input at the gym is extremely motivating for me.

Never listen to the negativity in your life, people will try and push you down, but stay true to yourself and stay focused on your goal and in the end you will end up on top.
