Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
How Did You Get Started?
I started working out to augment my football playing. Unfortunately, I suffered a hamstring tear in my sophomore year of college which lead me to give football up. I then poured everything I had into the powerlifting team we had at Springfield College. With a few meets under my belt and some major transformation through some serious heavy lifting, I decided to take on the sport of bodybuilding. That was 10 years ago and I haven't stopped since.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
By far, Paul Delia's brainchild--Max-OT.
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
I would have to say Nytro-Pro 40 and VP2 form the basis of my nutrition, but I can definitely FEEL the effects of Dymetadrine Xtreme and Creatine HSC.
Why do you love Bodybuilding?
I love the journey. I love the discipline. I love the training. I love waking up everyday a little better than the day before. I love it because it is the only sport in the world you carry around with you 24 hours a day (meaning your physique, as opposed to a football or a bat). I love it because it is challenging and it is hard. The hardness of it is what makes it great!
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I plan to compete in the Team Universe in the next year or two. My biggest goal, which is in the works, is to write for a major magazine of company so I can educate hundreds or thousands instead of the one person an hour I get to educate with personal training. I wouldn't mind being part of fitness show, either. Some may laugh since that is a limited goal for many, but you never know.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
To definitely enjoy the journey. It is not an overnight process at all. If you are only stimulated by the destination and you lack patience, you will not last long - or worse, you take short cuts.
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
I have a list and they are all the thinking man's bodybuilders. In no paticular order Dorian Yates, Mike Mentzer, Lee Labrada, Aaron Baker, Franco Columbo, and my mentor--Skip Lacour.
