Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Week: Holly Wilbur! - Pics and info and more!

How Did You Get Started?

I saw a Fitness America Pageant contest on ESPN and decided I wanted to try it myself. I was lucky enough to find Cathy Savage (www.savagechoreography.com) who is located in New England and prepares competitors from all over the country. With her help, I got my routine together, found a flattering suit, learned how to tan and walk in heels- basically put together the whole package!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

Several months out from a competition, I did 4 days of cardio for 45 minutes first thing in the morning. I also did weight training on a 3 on /1 off split. Using this program combined with a good nutrition plan, I was able to lean out without losing muscle. Then 6 weeks out from a contest, I increased my cardio to 5 days a week if I still needed to lose. I also switched to a full body program 3-4 days per week.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

I stick to a 40/40/20 split of protein/carbs/fat. I eat every 2-3 hours. I drink ? gallon of water a day and increase that to one gallon closer to a show.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I use Met-Rx Glutamine NOS and believe that it has helped my immunity when training hard and dieting. I also LOVE Pure Protein Revolution Bars. I find that eating one a day helps to curb my cravings for chocolate.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Because it makes me happier, healthier, and allows me to lead a more productive stress free life!

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Everyone is so individual. It is good to seek advice from others. However, it is also important to educate yourself and listen to your body. Get feedback from others who are knowledgeable and experienced but make adjustments according to what works for you and your lifestyle.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

I had the pleasure of competing on stage with Nancy Georges this year. Nancy has been competing for years yet she remains humble. She is one of the most genuine people I know and always thinking of others.
