Our Amateur Bodybuilder of the Week was...
How Did You Get Started?
I began powerlifting when I was 14. I won the USPF Teenage Nationals when I was 16. Then I went on to win the USPF Junior Nationals when I was 17. After that, I decided to focus on my physique rather than building power. So I trained like a bodybuilder for a few years and decided to give it a shot last year at the Mr. Vacationland up here in Maine. I won that show, and qualified for this year's NABBA National Championships, which I won the overall for also.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?
Monday (chest), Tuesday (arms), Wednesday (hamstrings/calves), Thursday (shoulders), Friday (off), Saturday (Quads/calves), Sunday (back/traps).
What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
My future plans in bodybuilding are to compete in the 2001 Mr. Universe in England next September. After that, going to try and work my way up through the NPC ranks, and hopefully compete in their Nationals within the next couple of years.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Don't be afraid to diet. Most BB's worry about losing too much muscle during their precontest phase. I have learned that hard work does pay off. It isn't always the guy with the best genetics or the most muscle mass, it is the person who has done their homework and gave 100% effort into the diet and cardio side of precontest training. The judges can tell who has worked the hardest, and they will reward you for it!
