How Did You Get Started?

I love to workout, and was an aerobics instructor. I saw a magazine with coverage of a fitness competition, and decided that it looked like a fun challenge. I did a lot of research, started to meet other competitors, attended seminars, read magazines, etc. I hired a choreographer who was very patient with me (as I was a beginner). Getting the right help is one of the most important things in getting started.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I get up at 4 AM and do 30 minutes of interval cardio during the week. I lift medium weight with high reps and move quickly through my workout to burn fat and build endurance. I mix my weights with body weight exercises to get used to lifting myself for my routines. I lift 5 times a week, working my legs twice, as this is a stubborn area for me to get rid of fat. After my weights, I do another cardio session, 40 minutes, alternating between running and the stairmaster (alias: the stair beast!). On the weekends I go out to the track and run sprints, do conditioning drills, and finish with running the bleacher stairs.

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

Amino acids, liver pills, L-Tyrosine combined with kelp, L-Glutamine, and a low carb, high protein shake.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

The body is an amazing thing, and I love to push myself to my limits. I love to compete, perform, and meet people with the same lifestyle and interests. I have had such a good time with competing, winning or placing well is just icing on the cake.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I plan to compete in June, August, and again in September. I have already qualified for the Ms. Fitness USA's in September in Las Vegas, so my first two competitions will be great no-pressure competitions.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Concentrate on being your best. Don't focus on your competitors, there is nothing you can do about them. If you go to a competition knowing you put forth your best effort, doing everything you possibly could, no matter how you place, you'll feel good about it. Once you're at the competition, let go, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment!

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Minna Lessig, Darby Hart, Monica Brant. I have a great amount of respect for all fitness athletes that do the work to get on's not easy!
