How Did You Get Started?

It all started 6 years ago when I got an invite from a friend to join him for a training session in the gym. Surfing, being my sport of choice at the time and still is alongside bodybuilding, I thought it would only benefit me to increase my fitness out of the water as well. After only a few short months I started to notice some changes and that's when my curiosity started to grow for the sport known as bodybuilding.

My 1st ever stage appearance was in 2006 at the Mr./Miss Sa Fitness Pageant where I entered into the Fitness model search category. I placed 5th overall from a line up of 35 entrants. Then I decided to enter the 1st regional competition of the FAME tour held in South Africa on the 31st of March 2007 and to my surprise I placed 1st out of 15 entrants. I continued to diet for another 2 weeks and made my 1st appearance on stage as a bodybuilder at the KZN East Coast Novice Classic where I placed 1st in the Middle weight division and 2nd overall. Now I'm hooked for life!

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

There are so many workout plans to choose from and trust me I've tried them all; mixing and matching, some with great results other with none. I think the best program to date for me is all the ones I tried, the ones that gave me results and the ones that didn't. Variety is the spice of life!

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

As a natural bodybuilder it is extremely difficult to make the same gains as bodybuilders that use pharmaceutical grade supplements. So I have to make sure that I consume the right amount of nutrition at the right time of the day. A typical day's menu would be something like this.

Arrow Sample Meal Plan:

    07:30 Serving of Muesli and 60g serving of Whey Supreme
    Carbs: 50g Protein: 48g

    10:00 Serving of Lean Body MRP, 22g serving of Whey Supreme
    Carbs: 16g Protein: 42g

    12:30 150g of either Chicken / Tuna or Ostrich 1/2 cup of Basmati Rice and Salad
    Carbs: 35g Protein: 30g

    15:00 serving of Staminade (Sports drink) and 44g serving of Whey Supreme
    Carbs: 34g Protein: 32g

    17:00 Weight Training

    18:00 Post workout Shake: 3 scoops Optimum Anabolic and 22g serving Whey Supreme
    Carbs: 67g Protein: 50g

    19:00 150g of either Chicken / Tuna or Ostrich and a cup of mix Veg
    Carbs: 10g Protein: 30g

    21:30 1/2 serving of Perfect Protein and 22g serving of Whey Supreme
    Carbs: 3g Protein: 36g

    Total Carbs: 215g Protein: 268g

By following this menu 99.9% of the time I manage to stay rather lean all year round with out much effort and I manage to build a small amount of muscle to, but QUALITY muscle.

AND DON'T FORGET NATURE'S MOST VALUABLE NUTRIENT: WATER. I drink on average 6+ liters of water a day.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

A combination of Whey Supreme and Perfect Protein, Optimum Anabolic, Methoxy Sterone, NO-Xplode and then the good old Opti-Vit and Opti-EFA.

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding is a one man sport and you have no one to blame for failure but yourself which means every time you don't give it a full 100% you're the only one to blame. No such thing as passing the buck.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

With the introduction of classic bodybuilding in IFBB it is definitely an avenue I would want to follow. Being the height I am... to be competitive on a IFBB stage I would have to consider the use of pharmaceuticals, but before I go down that route I want to prove to myself and others that you can be a successful bodybuilder without the use of steroids. Hopefully one day I too will grace the covers of Fitness Mags.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Never give up. If it feels like you not getting anywhere, change what you are doing. Look for other training options, look at where you can improve on your diet, try some new supplements, but NEVER GIVE UP!
