What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

A workout plan that focused on fundamentals, slow and controlled movements, and heavy weight! With all of the exercises outlined below, the key is form and slow movements. Don't try and be a hero in the gym. Pick a weight that pushes your limits, makes you struggle, but one you can also keep perfect form with. If your form lacks, then at best you are working body parts you are not intending to and risking injury at worst.

Note: A progression set is defined as starting with a light weight and continuing to go up 2 or 3 "pins" with each set. Think of a drop set in reverse, you get heavier and heavier. You keep going up until you can no longer pump out the suggest reps. (muscle failure)

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

As with my workout, I kept it simple and very clean. I used macros for everything and my primary foods were chicken, fish, eye of round steaks, sweet potatoes, brown rice and broccoli. The below sample meal plan is one I used for my contest prep. This same meal plan can be modified for offseason by supplementing chicken, steak or salmon for the tilapia and tuna. If you find it difficult to meet your protein requirements, you can also add in the two supplemental meals mention at the bottom.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I wouldn't be able to complete my macros without a quality whey protein supplement. I also find that NO-Xplode and BCAAs are heaven sent while on a contest prep diet. I usually mix Xtend with my gallon jug of water and drink it throughout the day. My supplement intake looks like:

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

It teaches you so much about yourself and what your body and mind can accomplish.

What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?

The constant urging to better myself and push myself to the limits. I have a fantastic family and friend support group that encourages me to always push the limits.

What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?

My personal transformation challenge. I was "tired of being tired". I wanted the body I had when I was a collegiate athlete. I wanted to see just how lean and mean I could get!

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

My plans are to train hard for the next year and make a run for several state and national championships beginning with the 2012 NGA Natural Mr. California competition. This was the same competition I competed in 2011. It was my first ever competition and I took home 3rd place.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Research, research, research. There are so many varying opinions on topics such as diet, exercises, competition prep, etc. My best advice would be to research everything and come up with your own conclusions based on you. Nobody knows you better than you. One person's routine may not work for you.

Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Frank Zane ranks at the top. His near perfect proportions and amazing conditioning are what I strive for.

What Features Do You Use On Bodybuilding.com?

I prefer to get all of my supplements from Bodybuilding.com!
