How Did You Get Started?

I began training after I moved to Buffalo NY from La Salle Ontario to enter graduate school for Physical Therapy. Quickly I noticed a difference in demographics and portion sizes as compared to home and I knew that if I didn't continue to workout and stay conscious of what I ate, I would become a part of the over weight epidemic by the time I graduated.

I have always been athletic and likewise knew how to work out but I did not know the sport of bodybuilding. So I did my research and used my background in Kinesiology to formulate my workout and meal plans.

What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

It is important for me to stay active 6 days a week or I get off track and lose focus. I noticed the most results once I added cardiovascular training every morning before starting my work day. It set my days off correctly with increased energy and a focused mindset.

My Workout Schedule

Cardio 60 min 5 mornings/week

    Monday: Chest, triceps and shoulders + 30 min elliptical
    Tuesday: Legs and back with personal trainer
    Wednesday: 45 min Cardio and Abdominals
    Thursday: Back, biceps and shoulders + 30 min treadmill.
    Friday: 60 min cardio and abdominals
    Saturday: Legs
    Sunday: Off

What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

Sample Meal Plan

    Breakfast: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 5 hard boiled egg whites and coffee.

    Morning snack: Protein shake (low carb) and low sugar yogurt or green apple.

    Lunch: Romaine lettuce salad and tuna or grilled chicken, Light Done Right Carb Well Italian dressing.

    Snack: Protein shakes (low carb).

    Dinner: Mixed vegetables and grilled or boiled chicken (or baked/poached fish), 1 cup of rice.

Drinks: 3 - 4L of water a day, diet pop and sugar free drinks.

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I use various brands (Optimum, Designer, PVL) of whey protein, antioxidants after each workout (glutamine, alpha lipoic acid, C and E) as well as omega 3's from flax seed oil or fish oils. I have recently tried "Tight" as my fat burner and noticed good results without feeling jittery or having a caffeine crash!

Why do you love Bodybuilding?

I love fitness because of the great feeling I receive from it. It sets the tone for my day and like most people, gives be a general sense of well-being. It is my stress reliever. Since competing I have learned self-discipline, restraint and I know how hard I am willing to push myself for myself.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I take everything a day at a time because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. With that, my immediate goal is to win my pro card in the natural federation I belong to. Once I achieve that, I want to do the best that I can in figure and see where it takes me.

What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Be patient and stay encouraged. Yes there is the sense of self-accomplishment, however it is a very competitive sport and everyone wants to win. Regardless of your results take the judges criticism and use it to better yourself for the next competition.
