How Did You Get Started?
I have been a competitive gymnast since the age of 9, and the floor exercise quickly became my forte! Intense training and discipline have always been a part of my life, and going into my senior year I realized my gymnastics career would soon be over. I couldn't bear to give up on the active lifestyle I've always known and loved. In January of 2008, my long-time friend Linda Potter referred me to Jenny Lewis, who trains with the Carla Sanchez and the Performance Ready Team. I was dragged to the gym with my mother one day, and as she told Jenny of my long competition history with gymnastics.
Jenny thought it would be a great idea to set me up with Carla and the PR team, and start training for Junior Fitness. Carla was very eager to have another fitness competitor on the team, and two weeks later I was in the gym every morning at 7 AM training for my first fitness competition in March of 08! I placed 2nd at my first competition, and then went on to compete fitness and figure at CO State, and won the title of Ms. Fitness CO at the age of 16!

Why do you love Bodybuilding?
It allows me to push myself and better my life in such a positive way. Fitness has opened up so many doors for me, and each day is another chance to do better then I did the day before. I have met so many new people, and the PR Team has been so amazing. I am so lucky to be a part a team where so many strong and beautiful women can come together and support each other in such a positive environment!
Fitness gives me something to strive for. It's that feeling you get after a good lifting session, and you're sipping on a protein shake, and you just know you're doing something so good for yourself, and you feel so strong. It's the best!
What Motivates You To Follow A Healthy Lifestyle?
I think motivation has to come from inside you, you have to want it. When I see my body changing, and I am getting results, there is no better motivation then that, and when the going gets tough, my family and my team are such a great support system. My sister and I compete together, and we are only two years apart, so it really helps to have someone that can relate to what you're doing, and have your back every step of the way.
What Made You Want To Achieve Your Goals?
When I first started training, I didn't take it nearly as serious as I do now. The dieting was hard for me, and when I took second out of two competitors at my first competition, that pretty much did it. I decided that if I was going to do it, I was going to go hard. Why do it at all if you aren't going to push yourself to do the best you know you can do?
I don't ever want to regret anything, and have to say, "well if I would have just done this, or just pushed myself a littler harder." At the end of the day I want to know that there was nothing I could've done differently.
What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?
I am just winding down from early graduation (Yay!) and will take this summer to really focus on my physique, and prepare for my next competition. I am not quite sure when that day will be, but I want to make sure that I am 100% ready next time I step on stage, and I am excited to come up with a killer routine this year! I have already qualified for a national show in fitness, but I would like to also qualify for figure! I am still young so, my muscles still have some maturing to do, but I am certain that the best part of my career is yet to come.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?
Take each day one day at a time. Some days will be easier then others, and sometimes it can be frustrating being a teen and being accepted by your peers for what you do. Results aren't always quick, but remember Rome was not built overnight. Accept each day as another chance to better yourself! Look at it as glass half full, not empty!
Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?
Tracey Greenwood has some amazing strength moves, and always keeps things fresh. Obviously Jen Hendershott, she has the best routines, that everyone loves watching. Shannon Meteraud, is such a strong person, and balances her family and her fitness lifestyle so well. But really I appreciate all fitness athletes! It's not easy, and these women are all so strong and beautiful. Props to all the mama's out there still training hard and not giving up on their fitness dreams! It's all about balance.

My favorite thing to do in the morning is wake up and either watch contest coverage, interviews, or just browse profiles, and look at all the pictures of IFBB Pro's and see how they've grown throughout their careers.
